Port Blair, July 21: A 3-day training programme on Post-partum Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device (PPIUCD) for the Staff Nurses and ANMs was conducted under Maternal and Child Health by the Family Welfare Section of the Directorate of Health Services for the first time in the Nicobar District at CHC Nancowry from 17th July to 19th July, 2015. Mr. Casper James, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry in his inaugural speech as the Chief Guest on 17th July, 2015 appreciated the Department of Health Services for conducting the training for the first time in the far-flung tribal areas which would be very beneficial to the tribal people of Great Nicobar and central group of Nicobar Islands. Dr. R.K Halder, MD, the Joint Secretary (RCH-II) who conducted the training spoke on the importance of the training and the methodology; while Dr. H.M Siddaraju, CMO, CHC Nancowry welcomed the guests and the trainees and was the resource person.
Eight Staff Nurses from PHCs Gandhi Nagar, Campbell Bay and Teresa, CHC Nancowry and 3 ANMs from far-flung Sub-centres under CHC Nancowry were trained. They were demonstrated and given hand-on practices on PPIUCD. The training was concluded in the afternoon on 19th July, 2015. The participants were awarded certificates by Dr. R.K Halder, MD, the Joint Secretary (RCH-II) during valedictory function held on 19th July, 2015.
