Port Blair, Apr 19: Acting swiftly to provide relief to the fire victims, in a significant move, the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, within 24 hours, approved grant of financial assistance to the victims of the fire accident that occurred at Ambedkar Street, Delanipur area of Port Blair city on Apr 17.
The Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. VK Bidhuri, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mr. Amit Kumar Pamasi and Councilor, Ward no. 3, Mr. K Ganeshan handed over the cheques to the victims amounting to a total of Rs 13,03,000/- here today.
Meanwhile, the Councilor, Ward No. 3, Mr. K Ganeshan has expressed his gratitude to the Lt. Governor for the timely grant of assistance for the fire victims.
Mr. Ganeshan said that arrangements have been made for lodging and food for the victims at Multipurpose Delanipur Community Hall, Ratri Niwas and Delanipur Lodging House.
