Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 29: Member of Parliament from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, has urged Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J. P. Nadda to ensure the early implementation of the Government’s 2023 decision to extend Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) treatment facilities to retired employees of the UT Administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In a letter dated September 27, 2026, addressed to the Union Health Minister, Ray recalled that he had earlier taken up the matter through a letter dated November 10, 2025, requesting the implementation of the 2023 Government decision and the creation of a Health & Wellness Centre at Sri Vijaya Puram for the purpose.
According to the MP, his earlier communication was acknowledged by the Ministry on November 24, 2025. He subsequently submitted a reminder on January 1, 2026, along with several suggested measures for the early implementation of the decision.
Mr. Ray pointed out that more than 10 months have passed, but the matter is still pending with the Ministry.
In his latest communication, the MP requested Minister J. P. Nadda to personally intervene in the matter and facilitate the early implementation of the Government decision of 2023.
He specifically sought the creation of a Health & Wellness Centre at Sri Vijaya Puram, which would enable retired employees of the UT Administration, who are waiting for the facility, to avail themselves of treatment benefits under CGHS norms.
The Member of Parliament expressed hope that the Ministry would take necessary action at the earliest to address the issue faced by retired employees of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
