Port Blair, April 14: The President of Hindi Sahitya Kala Parishad, Mr R.P.Singh has stressed for camaraderie in Hindi and Urdu literary activities. Addressing the Kavi Sammelan and Mushayra organized jointly by the socio cultural organisation Chetana and Daera-e-Urdu Adab in the Seminar Hall of Tagore College of Education, Port Blair on Sunday, he said, efforts to bring together poets of both the languages on a single platform deserves deep appreciation.
The special guest in the event and editor of the Mumbai-based Urdu literary magazine called Tahreer-e-Nav, Mr Zahir Ansari observed that reading habits among the public, especially literary writings, is now on the decline, and said the tendency should be checked and reading habits should be encouraged by all forums of arts and literature.
Mr I.A.Khan, Chairman of Daera-e-Urdu Adab presided over the function and Chetana Vice President Mr Banu Pratap Yadav welcomed the gathering.
The Chief Guest on the occasion released the new edition of the Urdu monthly Tahreer-e-Nav in the event. In the Kavi Sammelan and Mushayra, sponsored by the public sector Indian Oil Corporation, Port Blair, prominent poets in both the languages including Mr Mohammed Isa, Mr M.A.Salam, Dr Roshanara Dilbar, Mrs Sakina Siraj, Mr Zahir Ansari, Mr I.A.Khan, Dr Vyasmani Tripathi, Mr Jagdish Narayan Rai, Mr Ashok Kumavat, Dr Manju Nair, Mr Anirudh Tripathi, Mr Sridharan Chandra, Mr Durg Vijay Singh and Sheikh Farooq Alam rendered their recitals in the event.
