Port Blair, Apr 13: Objecting to the Member of Parliament’s move to extension of dates for filling up of vacancies in the Education Department, advertised in the month of February this year, the local Aam Admi Party leader, Mr Sanjay Meshack, has demanded immediate completion of the recruitment process. On the 8th of this month, some 50 aspiring candidates approached me complaining about the MP’s move to include candidates who passed the recent CTET exams in the recruitment process for the posts of PST and CTTs in the Education Department, said Mr Meshack.
“Last year more than 100 candidates approached the same MP pleading for his support for extension of the recruitment drive in their interest. But the MP, then directed the candidates to meet the Chief Secretary. But when a similar situation has arisen this year, the MP secured assurance from the Chief Secretary for all possible efforts to favour a handful of candidates,” he said.
“About 27 students have passed the CTET and will complete their courses JBT/D.EI.Ed, B.Ed by May 2015. After the Municipal and Panchayat elections, another set of candidates will clear the CTET exams and the MP will again seek extension of dates for teachers’ recruitment. Such action of the MP is sheer injustice to the unemployed youth of these islands. Many of the aspiring candidates will cross their age-limits for government jobs if such extension is granted time and again,” claimed Mr Meshack pressing for immediate completion of the recruitment drive.
