Sri Vijaya Puram, July 31: A delegation comprising D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) State Organising Committee, R. Surendran Pillai, President, CITU State Committee and Rajesh, CPI (M) Dharmapur Branch Member met the Chief Engineer, APWD today (31.07.2026) and submitted a letter from CPI (M) State Organising Committee urging the Chief Engineer to take immediate action to construct a new bridge over the CFO Nallah at TV Kulam in place of the existing Bailey bridge, under the Shivapuram Gram Panchayat considering the difficulties being faced by the villagers of Dharmapurand TV Kulam. CPI (M) delegation urged the Chief Engineer, APWD that till an RCC bridge is constructed connecting TV Kulam and NH4, temporary arrangement to pass through the nallah may be made by erecting a temporary bridge. Referring to his two earlier letters dated 2nd September, 2022 and 23rd November, 2023 submitted to the Chief Engineer on this issue, CPI (M) Secretary stated in the letter that the Bailey bridge connecting the TV Kulam village of Shivapuram Gram Panchayat has been kept closed for vehicular traffic and movement of people for the last several years.
CPI (M) Secretary also urged the Chief Engineer to expedite the sanction for the construction of Nishchinthpur bridge at Kalighat, North Andaman. He said that the demand of the people of Nishchinthpur for construction of a bridge connecting Kalighat and Nishchinthpur has been pending for the last several decades.
CPI (M) Secretary further urged the Chief Engineer, APWD to complete the renovation work of Kishorinagar-Paschimsagar road as the people of Paschimsagar and Talbagan are facing hardship while using the road. About 2 KMs stretch of the said road which is in a dilapidated condition is kept unattended for the last few years due to some reasons.
Chief Engineer explained the present status of each of the above works to the delegation.
