Port Blair, Feb 06: On one hand people across our country are trying to give their best for PM’s Swach Bharat Campaign and on the other hand in Andaman the Swach Bharat Campaign seems to be limited only upto main roads and infront of cameras.
The RGT Road and other road stretches are kept clean 24 X 7 because the area is considered as VIP area.
But the reality of Swach Bharat comes infront of us if someone peeps into places which are just a little away from the main road.
At RGT road near IT office a few family members are troubled by a vacant piece of land, which is filled with garbage. People around the area requested the PBMC to clean the place in several occasions but no one really bother to care. Only a few days ago after several requests a few labourers were sent to the area but the cleanliness work was just for official record.
“Finally the sanitary workers came after several requests but they cleaned the area just for name sake and went away. One still can see garbage spread here and there,” said a resident of the area, who is now planning to organize a Swach Bharat drive himself in that area.
