Port Blair, Dec 05: A technical team of the Electricity Department will be visiting the premises of various consumers during day and evening hours in and around Port Blair for checking the connected load, condition of meter, terminal seals, payment of energy charges/outstanding dues, if any. All consumers are requested to provide all required assistance and co-operation to the team service to be better consumers.
As per the Electricity Act 2003, each consumer is personally responsible for the safe custody of the energy meters and accessories including the seals and connections provided by the department. The consumers are liable for penal action as provided in the Electricity Act 2003, if these are interfered and tampered with. All consumers are requested to check this and intimate discrepancies to the nearest site office in working of the Electricity Department.
Increasing of the connected load over and above the sanctioned load without the approval of the competent authority is also liable for penal action and charges and liable for disconnection. All consumers who have increased the connected load without approval are, therefore, requested to apply afresh in proper application forms for sanction of the existing connected demand and pay the increased security deposit, a press note issued by the Superintending Engineer, Electricity Department said.
