Port Blair, Dec 04: The LGC of DC Office, Mayabunder, Shri. Samar Biswas has been arrested by the team of Anti-Corruption Unit on 04/12/2014 at Mayabunder for demanding and taking bribe of Rs. 5000/- from the complainant for renewal of his Bar License.
On receipt of information regarding demand of bribe by the alleged official, a trap laying team was constituted along with independent witnesses on 03/12/2014 and deputed to North Andaman. A written complaint was submitted by the complainant on 04/12/2014 that Shri. Samar Biswas, LGC of DC Office, Mayabunder is demanding Rs. 5000/- for renewal of his Bar License. Subsequently, FIR under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at PS Anti- Corruption and the trap laying team comprising of independent witnesses camped at North Andaman swung into action. The trap team raided at the office of alleged official and caught him red handed with the tainted bribe money of Rs. 5000/-. After observing all codal formalities he was arrested on the same day and he produced before the Hon’ble Court on 05/12/2014.

Whoever may be the reporter the facts have been misplaced the person Mr Samar Biswas is working as Senior Investigator from Statistical Bureau Cadre and not Lower Grade Clerk. But it is true that he has been dealing with subjects which should have been dealt with clerical cadre.
