Port Blair, Dec 04: On the invitation of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for discussion on the future of the Planning Commission, the Lt Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd), will be participating in the meeting to be held on 7th December 2014 at New Delhi. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister in his Independence Day address on August 15, 2014 had made an announcement to replace the Planning Commission with a new Institution.
In tune with it, the Govt. of India, has decided to revisit the present Planning Commission with a new institution, having a new design and structure, a new body, a new soul, a new thinking, a new direction with renewed faith to lead the country based on creative thinking, Public-Private partnership, optimum utilization of resources, utilization of youth power of the nation to promote the aspirations of the State Government seeking development and also to empower the State Government so as to strengthen the federal structure.
During the deliberations, suggestions of the participating CMs and Lt Governors will be taken so as to create an institution for the future which can emerge as a platform for all to come together to realize our vision of rapid economic development of our great nation.
