Diglipur, Oct. 30: In order to sensitize and popularize bee keeping among the farmers, the Department of Agriculture, Diglipur Zone in association with Union Territory Agricultural Technology Management Agency (UTATMA) conducted demonstration on “Bee Keeping” in the field of Shri. Swapan Gharami at Laxmipur yesterday.
Shri. Sachin Sarker, Agriculture Assistant, Diglipur welcomed the gathering and urged the participants to draw maximum benefit from the demonstration and explained that bee keeping helps in pollination thereby increasing the production and productivity of crops. It also improves the economic status of the farmers by adding additional income.
Shri. Bhubharty, Agriculture Assistant explained about the assistance provided by the department for promoting bee keeping and also explained other schemes for development of high value agriculture crops and urged the farmers to take the benefits of various schemes of the department.
Shri. Parmashivam and Jagga Rao, officials of the department, demonstrated and explained the method of multiplication of bee colony, honey collection, the equipments to be used and dos and donts of bee keeping.
Altogether 20 farmers including farmer friends participated actively in the programme.The programme was co-ordinated by Block Technology Manager and Assistant Technology Managers.
