Port Blair, Feb 25: Prompt and timely action by police has saved a person from drowning in sea who had fallen from a vehicle ferry boat between Chatham & Bambooflat on Monday morning. On 25/02/14 at 0516 hrs., information ferry on way from Chatham to Bambooflat. On this, SHO Bamboflat SI K.N. Mishra and Police Marine Force PC Ashraf and PC Govinda rushed by a OBM fibre boat from Bambooflat jetty and recued the drowning person from sea. Police Marine boat MV Riflemen also reached the spot from Chatham jetty.
The rescued person P. Selvam S/o Shri Pandi (36) Yrs, Pvt. Labour, R/o Prothrapur was immediately shifted to CHC Bambooflat for medical attention As per his statement, he was standing on the side of the vehicle ferry and felt giddiness and suddenly fell down from the boat.
