Port Blair, Feb 25: On 24/02/2014, at about 1215 hrs a message was received from PCR at PS Chatham that a body of a person is lying covered under a sheet behind a house at Buniyadabad. On this information, SI Abdul Rehman, SHO PS Chatham alongwith police party, photographer & Forenisc team reached the spot and found that the dead body of a person was hidden under a coaltar sheet behind a dilapidated house belonging to one Ratan Lall.
The deceased had injuries on his heads and legs. He was identified as Viswananth Dhar @ Karthick, S/o Late J.K. Dhar (45) yrs, R/o Delanipur, private worker by profession.
On this, a case vide crime No. 10/14 dated 24.02.14, U/s 302/201 IPC was registered at PS Chatham. During investigation, Ratan Lall in whose house the incident had been detected was suspected to be involved in the murder and was interrogated. He confessed his guilt and has been arrested. Police have also recovered the murder weapon on his instance.
