Port Blair, Feb 21: The Department of Homescience, JNRM in collaboration with NABARD, Port Blair is organizing two days workshop on “Financial Literacy for Women Students” from 21stto 22nd February 2014. Shri K Venkatesan, Assistant Professor & HOD, Homescience welcomed the gathering and explained the significance of the workshop. Dr Iqbal Ahmad, Principal, JNRM while delivering special address he congratulated the Homescience Department for taking novel efforts which in turn make the students as stakeholders and brand ambassador for many national schemes and programmes. Though we are all literate by not the knowing the how to utilise the basic services of banking sector we are considered as illiterate. The Chief Guest of the inaugural session Shri Gananath Tarai, General Manager, NABARD, informed that it is an attempt from NABARD that every citizen of our country should become aware of the financial matter and transactions. He exhorted the student’s community to take part in the two days workshop actively and reap benefits out of it and inform the same to the rural masses in their locality. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Smt Nidhi Katiyar, Assistant Professor in Homescience.
