Port Blair, Dec. 16: The RSC Cup Open Badminton got underway today at the Multipurpose Hall, Netaji Sports Complex here today. The Chairperson PBMC, Mr. K Ganeshan who is also the Chairman Regional Sports Council inaugurated the championship. Addressing the gathering including the players on the occasion, the RSC Chairman said sport is important for a healthy body and mind. He also urged the students to take part in different sports disciplines along with their studies.
The Chairman said that RSC will organize a series of sports activities for which a resolution have been passed. The Chairman RSC also met the player before the start of the game.
After several years of dormancy the RSC has got a new lease of life this year.
In his brief address on the occasion, a senior badminton player, Mr. Gyan Prakash urged the budding players to take advantage of the coaching being provided to them, the facility he said, was not available at their time.
The Organizing Secretary, RSC, Mr. Sailesh Chauhan informed that over 100 players have been registered for this tournament which is being held in group U-14, U-17, U-19(boys and girls), open category for men and women and for veterans (above 45 years).
