Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 15: The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dr. Dinesh Sharma Ji, today chaired a high-level review meeting on the functioning of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Ltd. (ANIIDCO) and the Tourism Department at Lok Niwas, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The Chief Secretary, Mr. Gyanesh Bharti, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Tourism), and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the Lt. Governor reviewed in detail the progress of various tourism projects being undertaken across the Islands. He emphasised the need to make tourism more convenient, accessible and tourist-friendly.
The Lt. Governor directed that a “Single Window Booking System” be implemented by January 2027 to facilitate tourists. Through this integrated digital platform, tourists will be able to book all tourism-related services across the Islands at a single point, including entry permits, boat tickets, water sports and other services.
The Lt. Governor stated that the initiative would not only provide tourists with transparent and convenient services but also directly benefit local water sports operators, boat operators and other stakeholders associated with the tourism sector, thereby giving a fresh impetus to tourism in the Islands.
