Port Blair, Sept 22: As a run up to the 13th Raising Day of Andaman and Nicobar Command on 08 Oct 13, a series of events have been planned. As a part of this, a ’Walkathon’ was organised by three units of the Command – Base Victualling Yard, Naval Store Depot and Base Logistics Office to spread the message of ‘Preserving the Environment’.
A total of 120 personnel from these units participated in this twenty km walk from Birchgunj Military Station to Munda Pahar near Chidiyatapu on 07 Sep 13. The participants completed the walk in about three hours, with refreshments and recreational activities following.
“The event was a mega success with enthusiastic response from all the participants, who were truly impressed by the diverse and unique flora and fauna of these pristine islands,” Col Harmit Singh, Command PRO, ANC told media.
