
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 11: The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, participated as the chief guest in a collective Shradh, Tarpan and Pind Daan ceremony organised by Gayatri Parivar at Khaitan Kalyan Mandap, Junglighat, Sri Vijaya Puram, on the auspicious occasion of Pitru Moksha Amavasya.
Addressing the gathering, the Lt. Governor highlighted the religious, spiritual and cultural significance of Pind Daan. He stated that Pitru Paksha is an integral part of India’s Sanatan tradition, which teaches us to express reverence, gratitude and respect towards our ancestors.
Emphasising the importance of family and the values enshrined in Indian culture, he spoke about the spirit of social commitment, selflessness and compassion that encourages people to find happiness in the happiness of others.
Members of Gayatri Parivar, devotees, intellectuals and a large number of local residents attended the ceremony and performed Tarpan and Pind Daan for their ancestors amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras.
