
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 11: Inspired by the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who united the nation under the spirit of national integration, the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, flagged off a motorcycle rally from the premises of the National Memorial, Cellular Jail, Sri Vijaya Puram, with a resolute message of unity against drug abuse and a commitment towards a drug-free India.
The rally features 12 bikers from the Andaman and Nicobar Police, who will travel nearly 1,800 kilometres from Chennai to Ekta Nagar, spreading awareness against drug abuse and conveying the message of a drug-free society along the route.
On the occasion, the Lt. Governor directed the Director General of Police to ensure the strictest possible action against individuals involved in the illicit drug trade, dismantle the entire drug supply chain and formulate a dedicated action plan to reduce the demand for narcotic substances.
Appealing to the youth, the Lt. Governor urged them to stay away from drugs, channel their energy into constructive activities and sports, and actively contribute to nation-building.
The Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Director General of Police, Mr. Ravindra Singh Yadav and other Police Officials were present on the occasion.
