Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 28: JNRM, Sri Vijaya Puram, observed World Tourism Day 2026 with a beach-cleaning drive and a seminar on responsible and sustainable tourism.
Faculty members and students took part in a cleanliness drive at Marina Park Beach on 27 September, collecting plastic and other waste, which was handed over to the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) for proper disposal.
The Department of BBA Tourism organized a seminar on 28 September with participation from tourism industry and Forest Department professionals. Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal, JNRM, delivered the keynote address and spoke on hospitality and the role of technology in enhancing guest services.
Mr. Mohammed Pervez highlighted major and upcoming ANIIDCO tourism projects and Government initiatives for sustainable tourism. Mr. P. Mohammed Hussain, Deputy Ranger, spoke on scuba diving and career opportunities, while Mr. M. Vinod, President, AATO, discussed emerging opportunities and challenges in the tourism sector.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Seemanta Kumar Deka, HOD, BBA Tourism, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. P. Abdul Salam.
