Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 28: As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign and to mark World Tourism Day 2026, Gram Panchayat Shivapuram organized a comprehensive Mass Beach Cleaning Drive at Panchawati Eco Tourism Beach.
The cleanliness drive was led by Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Shivapuram, in the special presence of Mr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Block Development Officer (BDO), Rangat.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 36 participants, including PRI Member Mr. Birju and Panchayat representatives, a Police Department team led by Mr. S. Sudarshanan, Sub-Inspector, Police Station Billiground, Forest Department personnel led by Ms. Soumiya, Forest Guard, Panchayat office staff and frontline Sanitation Workers.
During the drive, participants carried out intensive cleaning along the shoreline of Panchawati Beach and systematically collected and segregated different types of waste. A total of 21 bags weighing approximately 168 kg of waste were collected, including glass bottles, plastic PET bottles, thermocol, Multi-Layered Plastics (MLP) and other non-biodegradable marine debris.
The collected waste was segregated category-wise and transported to the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Cluster of Gram Panchayat Shivapuram for further scientific processing and disposal.
At the conclusion of the programme, Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan, and Mr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, BDO Rangat, addressed the gathering and sensitized participants and visitors about the importance of keeping beaches and surrounding natural habitats clean. They emphasized responsible waste management, protection of marine ecosystems and community participation in promoting sustainable tourism.
