Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 23: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) organised a two-day training programme under UT-ATMA on the topic “Scientific Management of Duckery in Rural Areas” at the Community Hall, Janata Tikery, Netaji Nagar on 21st and 22nd September 2026.
A total of 24 participants, including staff, attended the programme. The Ward Member also attended and extended support to the initiative. During the two-day training, all aspects of duckery management under village conditions were covered in detail, with special reference to the Integrated Farming System, particularly fish-pond duckery, which can provide additional income and better utilisation of farm resources.
The training was imparted by the Senior Veterinary Officer, Hut Bay, and para-veterinary staff. The participants were educated on scientific housing, feeding, healthcare, breeding and management of ducks suited to rural conditions. Emphasis was also laid on the economic benefits of integrating duck rearing with fish farming.
At the valedictory function, the participants were provided with departmental inputs, refreshments and lunch. Certificates of Participation were also distributed. The farmers expressed their appreciation for conducting such useful training at the village level.
