
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 17: As part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan” being organised to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India, MY Bharat – Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organised a vibrant Tiranga Rally on 17 August.
The rally was flagged off by Dr. P. V. N. Sarma, Principal, Andaman Law College, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of the National Flag and the responsibility of the youth in upholding the values of patriotism, unity and national pride.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 130 MY Bharat Volunteers and youth from various educational institutions, including Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) and Andaman Law College. The participants carried the National Flag with pride and raised patriotic slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and national unity.
The rally proceeded through the designated route and culminated at the historic Cellular Jail, a revered symbol of India’s freedom struggle. The culmination of the rally at this iconic heritage site added special significance to the programme, providing the participating youth an opportunity to remember the extraordinary sacrifices, courage and struggles of the freedom fighters who were imprisoned and endured immense hardships for the independence of the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Deepak Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the youth and emphasised the importance of engaging young people in activities that strengthen their connection with the nation’s history, heritage and constitutional values.
Dr. Sunil Saini, Assistant Professor, TGCE; Dr. Rajiv Mandal, MY Bharat–NSS Programme Coordinator, Andaman Law College; Mr. Tamilbharathan T. K., MY Bharat–NSS Officer, JNRM; and Dr. Sunita Patil, Guest Lecturer, TGCE, were also present and extended their valuable support and coordination for the programme.
Mr. Gopal Ch. Biswas, APS (OSD), MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, NSS representatives and participating MY Bharat Volunteers and also proposed vote of thanks.
The Tiranga Rally served as a powerful expression of patriotism, unity, youth participation and respect for the National Flag. The sight of young volunteers marching together with the Tricolour and raising patriotic slogans reflected the spirit of “Har Ghar Tiranga” and reinforced the message that the youth have an important role in building a strong, united and developed India.
The programme concluded with a renewed pledge by the participating youth to respect the National Flag, remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, preserve the nation’s heritage and contribute towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
