Sri Vijaya Puram, July 13: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, has issued a weather advisory based on the latest forecast received from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata.
According to the IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from July 14 to July 16, 2026. Similar weather conditions with gusty winds of 30–40 kmph and lightning are likely at isolated places on July 18 and July 19, 2026.
The IMD has also warned that squally winds with speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, are likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts from July 13 to July 16, 2026. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
In addition, swell waves with a height of 1.6 to 2.0 metres and a wave period of 12 to 13 seconds are forecast along the Andaman & Nicobar coast until 11.30 PM on July 14, 2026. Immediate caution has been advised, and the public is requested to follow official updates issued by the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS).
For farmers, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are likely at isolated places from July 14 to July 16, while similar conditions with winds of 30–40 kmph are expected on July 18 and July 19, 2026.
The Directorate of Disaster Management has urged residents, fishermen, farmers and all concerned departments to remain vigilant, take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather advisories issued by the authorities.
