Port Blair, June 19: Following revelation made by Andaman Sheekha about Ghost Hockey Team of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, playing in National Championship, the Bharatiya Janta Party today demanded immediate inquiry in this matter.
The General Secretary of Andaman’s BJP unit, Mr. Deepak Kumar Jha has now written a complaint letter against the management of the Ghost Hockey Team to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and demanded stern action against the team management.
According to information the All Andaman and Nicobar State Hockey Association had allegedly taken a ghost hockey team from Bangaluru, and represented A & N Islands, in Hockey Indian’s National Hockey Championship in Pune, organised from 28 May to 10 June 2013.
Though Andaman’s Department of Sports and Youth Affairs have already cancelled the affiliation of the All Andaman and Nicobar State Hockey Association with the State Sports Committee, following Andaman Sheekha’s report, the BJP unit of Andaman is now demanding more stringent action for such mis-representation.
“I strongly feel that the Police Department is not taking interest to take this case. I also request your good self to constitute a Committee to find out the fact that why Police Department is going slow in spite having several evidence i.e. News paper from National Media, Print Media and also from internet. A complaint from sports Department itself is self explanatory,” Jha said in his letter addressed to the Lt. Governor.
Meanwhile taking to ‘Express’ this afternoon Jha said that BJP won’t tolerate such wrongdoing and will fight for the justice for local youths, whose opportunity to play in National Championship was taken away by the AANSHA.
“We want stringent action against those imposters who brought bad names for these Islands,” the General Secretary of Andaman’s BJP unit added.
