Sri Vijaya Puram, June 01: Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has urged the authorities to ensure strict compliance with the Administration’s directive earmarking 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on all working days for public meetings and grievance hearings in government offices across the Islands.
In a representation submitted to the Member of Parliament, the Lt. Governor, the Chief Secretary, and the Assistant Secretary (AR Wing), Mr. Rakeshwar Lall, State President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, pointed out that the Administration had issued clear instructions requiring all Senior Officers, Secretaries, Directors, and Heads of Offices to remain available during the designated hour to meet members of the public and address their grievances.
However, it has been observed that in several government offices, officers continue to remain occupied with internal meetings and other administrative engagements during the prescribed public interaction period. As a result, citizens, social workers, and representatives of various organizations are often unable to meet the concerned officials, defeating the very purpose of the Administration’s directive.
The organization stated that many islanders travel from distant and remote islands to Sri Vijaya Puram and other administrative centres at considerable cost and inconvenience, only to find that the designated public hearing hours are not being effectively implemented. This has caused dissatisfaction and frustration among the public.
Hindu Rashtra Shakti has therefore requested the Administration to issue strict instructions to all Secretaries, Directors, and Heads of Offices to ensure that the period from 1500 hrs to 1600 hrs is reserved exclusively for public meetings and grievance redressal. The organization has further urged that no internal meetings or other official engagements be scheduled during this time and that accountability measures be introduced to ensure compliance.
Mr. Rakeshwar Lall expressed hope that prompt intervention by the Administration would strengthen public confidence in governance and ensure that the Administration’s own directives are implemented in both letter and spirit.
