Rangat, Apr 21: Residents across the region, especially in Rangat and surrounding areas, have expressed serious frustration over continuous and extended load shedding following technical failures at the Rangat Bay Power House.
According to an official notice issued by the Electricity Department, both DG-2 and DG-5 generator units are currently under forced shutdown, resulting in insufficient power supply. As a result, scheduled load shedding of nearly 1700 KW is being carried out round the clock across multiple feeders, including Rangat, Nimbudera, and Baratang.
However, the frequent power cuts, often lasting several hours throughout the day and night, have severely affected daily life, small businesses, students, and healthcare services. Residents have reported difficulties in managing basic needs due to irregular electricity supply, especially during peak summer conditions.
Local public representatives and citizens are now urging the authorities to take immediate corrective measures and restore normal power supply without delay. Many have warned that if the issue is not resolved quickly, public protests may be organized to demand accountability and faster action from the department.
Citizens are also demanding transparency regarding repair timelines and requesting deployment of alternative power arrangements to minimize disruption.
“We understand technical issues can happen, but continuous power cuts without proper solutions are unacceptable,” said a concerned resident.
The situation remains tense as the public awaits urgent intervention from higher authorities.
