
Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 21: In a high-level meeting aimed at bridging the gap between rural grievances and administrative support, on 20.04.2026 Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Shivapuram, and Mr. Madhavan, Up-Adhyaksh of North & Middle Andaman, called upon the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
The delegation presented a comprehensive list of “burning issues” currently hindering the progress and daily life of residents of Gram Panchayat Shivapuram.
Opening the discussion, Mr. Madhavan brought urgent attention to the present state of electricity in the Rangat area. He highlighted that frequent, unscheduled power cuts have become a major distress for the public, affecting both domestic life and local businesses. He urged the administration to stabilize the grid and minimize load-shedding.
Mr. Venkateswar Rao tabled a four-point agenda focused on the developments under GP Shivapuram:
• Immediate commencement for construction of TV Kullam Bridge which is a long-awaited demand of general public.
• Construction of Wooden Bridge at Eco Tourism Beach Panchawati.
• Request to “set apart” unused agricultural land at Panchawati for more productive community or developmental use.
• Non-operational status of the e-Gram Swaraj portal.
The Chief Secretary reportedly gave a patient hearing to the delegation, assuring them that the Administration is committed to resolving every possible issues faced.
Demonstrating a proactive approach, the Chief Secretary immediately enquired with the Director (RD/Panchayat) regarding e-Gram Swaraj portal. The Director Sir informed that the technical glitches are being addressed and promised that the portal would be operational at the earliest.
