
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 29: Block Project Office (Samagra Shiksha), Diglipur successfully organized a programme on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day 2026 at the Block Level Resource Room, -BPO Diglipur. The programme was conducted under the theme “Together Against Loneliness.”
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Pradeep Das, Zilla Parishad Member, Diglipur. The event was also honored by the presence of Special Guest, Smt. C. Pushpavalli, Vice Principal, GSSS Diglipur, whose presence added value to the programme.
The event was organized under the guidance of the Mrs. Sulochana, Block Project Officer, BPO, Diglipur, with active coordination by Ms. S. Vijaya, Resource Room Incharge Diglipur. The programme witnessed the participation of around 15students02 Teachers and 15 parents. A total of 06 children received physiotherapy service during the programme, aiming to spread awareness and promote inclusive practices for children with special needs.
Programme Highlights:
• Awareness on Down Syndrome:
• Mr. Ajoy Mistry (GTT Science) GMS Ganesh Nagar, delivered an informative session on Down Syndrome, its characteristics, and the importance of awareness.
• Ms. R. Jayalaxmi, BRP (Science), BPO Diglipu rhighlighted intervention strategies, support systems, and inclusive practices for Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
• Awareness on State Resource Centre Services:
• Ms. S. Vijaya BRP (CwSN) Resource Room Diglipur, provided detailed information about the services and facilities available at the State Resource Centre, including tele-rehabilitation services, and guided parents on how to access these services.
• Educational Support & Management Strategies:
• Mr. Biswajit Das (Special Educator) PM Shri GMSSS Sita Nagar, explained effective educational strategies and classroom management techniques.
• Mr. Amit Kumar Mani, BRP (Hindi), BPO Diglipur guided parents regarding parental support and various government schemes for children with special needs.
• Physiotherapy Services & Exercises:
Dr. CH. Vidisha (Physiotherapist) District Project Office, Mayabunder provided physiotherapy services to the children and also demonstrated basic exercises beneficial for children with special needs. Parents were guided on how to continue these exercises at home for daily support.
