Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 26: The State Youth President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Mr, Angshuman Roy, has submitted an urgent appeal to the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands seeking immediate relief and rehabilitation support for the shopkeepers and traders affected by the devastating fire that broke out at Rangat Bazaar Market last night.
In his representation, Mr, Roy highlighted that the tragic incident led to the complete destruction of numerous shops and commercial establishments, resulting in severe economic losses to the local business community. He urged the Administration to sanction a special relief package from the LG Relief Fund to provide immediate financial assistance and temporary commercial spaces to help affected shopkeepers resume their livelihood activities.
He further requested that a detailed assessment of all affected shopkeepers be conducted promptly to ensure fair compensation for losses to inventory and property. The letter also appealed for the inclusion of simplified procedures for reissuing lost business records, licenses, and permits, along with temporary tax relief and waiver of utility charges for the affected business units.
Emphasizing the broader implications of the incident, Mr, Roy called for a comprehensive fire safety audit of all market areas across the islands and recommended that part of the relief package be dedicated to strengthening firefighting infrastructure and preventive measures in commercial zones.
He expressed confidence that the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, under the guidance of the Lieutenant Governor, will take swift and effective action through the LG Relief Fund and Disaster Management Fund to restore normalcy and support the recovery of the affected community in Rangat.
