Port Blair, Apr 29: The Youth Congress members and General Secretary Mr. J. Boby visited Durgapur fisheries colony, Diglipur and 27th of April, 2013 and were shocked to witness the problems of the residents. Mr. Boby along with his Party members immediately appraised of the problems of the fishermen to the Assistant Commissioner Dr. Vivek Kumar.
Mr. Boby demanded for extension of jetty towards sea side as the depth was decreased after tsunami, construction of toilet block at waiting hall, providing parapet wall along the jetty including the provision of lighting and providing bus service upto the waiting hall at Durgapur for the betterment of the fishermen community.
In the evening Dr Vivek along with Assistant Director of Fisheries Dr Sailesh visited the colony and assuredald to look into the grievances of the fishermen at an early date.
