Port Blair, Apr 29: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was recently inducted to safeguard and look after the security at the Haddo Port but since the past few days the general public of these Islands availing the ship journey are facing a lot of problems since the CISF personnel’s are becoming the cause of delay for almost every ship, alleged Mr. B Chandrachoodan, the General Secretary of Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU).
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Chandrachoodan further said that recently M.V Nancowry was scheduled to sail for its journey at 10:00 Am and all announcements were made through the media about the sailing of the ship. All passengers had reached the Port in time and but the CISF personnel handling the luggage screening machine did not handle the machine efficiently and undue delay was made in the embarkation of the passengers and the ship sailed at about 3:00 Pm.
“One more similar incident took place on Haddo Port on 27th of April 2013 in which the sailing of the ship was also scheduled at 10:00 Am but the ship sailed at about 3:00 PM because of the CISF staffs. The passengers of the ship also complained that there are two luggage screening machines at Haddo Port but only one of those was used and the other machine was just kept as it is,” he added.
The General Secretary of CITU added that if this kinds of incidents happen again then the fame of the Central Industrial Security Force will slowly drift away.
“The central Industrial Security Force is deployed for security in all Airports and Major ports of India. The force has been doing commendable work and has proved its worth everywhere. The force has been inducted into security of Haddo Port recently and needs to improve its system and provide better services to the people of these Islands,” he added.
