Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 20: The Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, Andaman & Nicobar Administration hosted a State level training programme on “Own Source Revenue” at the SPRC Training Hall in Marine Hill, Sri Vijaya Puram yesterday. This initiative under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) is aimed at enhancing awareness, promoting knowledge sharing and building capacity of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. K. A. Prameela, Assistant Director (RD/Panch), followed by an inaugural session delivered by Shri Bijoy Kumar Das, State Nodal Officer (RGSA), who emphasized the essential role of strengthening OSR for improving Panchayat financial autonomy, enhancing local governance and fostering sustainable development. Recognition was also given to the top performing GPs in OSR generation from North and Middle Andaman district.
Pradhans, Panchayat Secretaries and RGSA Team members actively participated in the proceedings. Through a blend of modules, videos and presentations, participants gained insights into OSR and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj’s latest initiatives in revenue generation techniques for Gram Panchayats.
Sessions were led by Master Trainers, Shri Ashish Shekhar, Panchayat Secretary and Ms. E. Vidya Mala, Domain Expert, Financial Management.
