
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 20: Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, officially launched the District Disaster Pocket Guide and virtually inaugurated an e-Corner at the Little Andaman Tehsil from the Secretariat. The event was held in the presence of senior officials of the A&N Administration.
The District Disaster Pocket Guide, an initiative of the District Administration, South Andaman, is aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and response capabilities among the local community in South Andaman District and beyond. Designed as a quick reference tool, the guide provides vital information for both residents and field functionaries to manage disasters effectively.
The guide includes several key features such as quick access to emergency contacts via QR codes or direct dialing, efficient navigation to relief centres through Google Maps integration, clear explanations of siren signals for timely response, improved awareness of safe and vulnerable areas through signage and digital learning tools including QR-linked educational videos. It is made available in both hard copy and digital formats and is ideally suited for outreach programs, school safety initiatives, community training and public awareness drives. In addition to the launch of the guide, an e-Corner was inaugurated at the Tehsil Office in Little Andaman. This facility aims to provide free and easy access to online government services for local residents. The initiative reflects the commitment to ensure transparency, efficiency and citizen-friendly service delivery, particularly in remote areas by the District Administration, South Andaman.
During the occasion, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration virtually addressed the gathering at Little Andaman, which included local officers and PRI members. He urged them to make full use of the e-Corner facilities and emphasized the importance of maintaining its smooth and continuous operation. The local PRI members expressed their appreciation to the Administration for bringing such essential digital services to rural communities, making online governance more accessible to the common citizen.
