Diglipur, April 10: The long cherished Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Diglipur was supposed to cater to a population of several thousand living in Diglipur Tehsil; but the new building of the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) is awaiting completion for the last couple years, even as the CHC, Diglipur is insufficient to handle the influx of patients, lack of space and is plagued by shortage of Staff Nurses and other staff.
According to information, the construction of the new building of the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) faced halts several times in the past owing to various reasons best known to the Administration. However, according to officials with knowledge of the details, now, just when residents of Diglipur were expecting the new building to get operational, the construction work was caught in a new quagmire. The new building of the Sub-District Hospital is reportedly yet to get clearance from the Fire Department. As per the fire specifications/compliance, the new building of the Sub-District Hospital was reportedly to meet the requirement of the installation of high voltage pump (automatic type) in the new building of the SDH.
However, when Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted the concerned officials of CD, APWD, Diglipur, the new building of the Sub-District Hospital constructing agency, said that the works related to installation of high voltage pump (automatic type) in new building of the SDH is reportedly in progress and the works are reportedly at the final/finishing stage, and once these works accomplished, the Dept. will be able to handover the building to DHS. The ASD further posed questions to the higher authority of the Health Service Department on the status of SDH and its probable time of operation, the top Official in response said that Sub-District Hospital, Diglipur, with a specified number of specialist doctors will reportedly be operational within a couple of months, and the people of Diglipur will be largely benefitted with its services, he further assured.
