Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 20: The C D Block of Little Andaman organized a Block Level Training Programme titled ‘Strategic Development and New Emerging Initiatives towards a Self-Sufficiency Village (Theme-6) of Localized Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs)’ under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). This programme aim to empower local authorities, including Panchayat Secretaries, Assistant Engineers (PRIs), and Junior Engineers (PRIs), to drive sustainable development in their communities.
The event began with an inaugural address by the chief guest, Mr. S. Paramanathan, Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti, Little Andaman, who emphasized the critical role of self-sufficiency in rural development and encouraged participants to actively engage in the initiatives discussed.
Mr. Belthazer, Block Development Officer, highlighted the long-term benefits of the training, noting that the knowledge gained could lead to improved community infrastructure, strengthened governance, and more resilient local economies.
The highlight of the program was a workshop led by Domain Expert, Ms. C. Vijya (Women Empowerment), focusing on strategies for creating self-sufficient infrastructure in Gram Panchayats and villages. The key topics included components of self-sufficient infrastructure, community participation, capacity building, innovative solutions, funding and resource mobilization, monitoring and evaluation practices, and sustainability. Participants gained valuable insights into how sustainable practices can empower their communities and improve their quality of life.
The event concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Vishal Mandal, Extension Officer, who acknowledged the collaborative efforts needed to foster self-sufficiency and resilience in local communities. This training program represents a significant step toward achieving sustainable development and self-reliance in rural areas of Little Andaman, laying the foundation for lasting growth and enhanced quality of life in these communities.
