Port Blair, July 14: In a continued and determined effort to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station executed a successful Anti-Narcotics operation on July 12, 2024.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated Police Team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by SI Mohd Rahil Islam Anti-Narcotics Police Station carried out this operation which included PC Ratan Das, PC M. Raja Rao, PC Vishal and LPC Nandita Mistry. The operation was conducted under the overall leadership of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics.
The team intercepted Smti. Bhagabati Mistry W/o Sh. Prohlad Mistry (45)yrs R/o Kumirmari Kachani Para, Kumimari Narendrapur Basanli, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal-743378, currently residing at Hutbay No. 22, South Andaman. Bhagabati Mistry had arrived in Port Blair from Kolkata on July 12, 2024, via an Air India flight. She was found in possession of 655 grams of Ganja, which was clandestinely concealed in her trolley bag. The contraband was seized, and the accused lady was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities as per Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. She was later released on bail.
A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered at the Anti-Narcotics Police Station and further investigation is currently under progress. The raid took place under the overall supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP (CID), A&N Islands.
