Kamorta, July 12: A tragic incident occurred on the 12 July 2024 morning at around 6 AM, off the shores of Kamorta when a fishing expedition turned fatal.
Mr. T. Tulsi Das, a 64-year-old fisherman, went out to sea with another fisherman. As they neared the shore, they encountered severe weather conditions, with gusty winds causing their boat (dinghy) to capsize.
Despite the chaos, Mr. Das’s companion managed to grab a life jacket and swim towards the shore. Upon reaching safety, he immediately reported the incident to the local police station. The police, demonstrating commendable urgency, launched a search operation. Alongside them, other local fishermen joined in the rescue efforts.
Unfortunately, despite their combined efforts, they were unable to locate Mr. Tulsi Das. Later that day, his lifeless body was discovered near the jetty.
