Port Blair, Jun 16: In recognition of World Sickle Cell Anemia Day on (19th June), CRC A&N Islands in collaboration with Pillar Hospital, Dairy Farm Junction & Ration Rasheed, NGO, Port Blair will host a blood donation camp on 19th June 2024 from 9am to 4pm at Pillar Hospital, Dairy Farm, Port Blair.
This vital blood drive aims to raise awareness about sickle cell anemia, a genetic blood disorder, and collect lifesaving blood donations for those affected. Regular blood transfusions are crucial for managing the painful symptoms and complications associated with sickle cell disease.
“A single blood donation can be a lifeline for someone battling sickle cell disease.”
Donating blood is a simple and safe way to make a significant difference in the lives of individuals with sickle cell anemia. Here’s what you need to know:
Eligibility: All healthy individuals between the ages of 18 and 60 (or the blood bank’s specific criteria) who meet the eligibility requirements can participate.
Process: A quick registration followed by a health screening. The actual donation takes approximately 10-15 minutes, with refreshments provided afterwards.
Benefits: The immense satisfaction of potentially helping someone battling a chronic illness. Some camps may offer a donor certificate or a small token of appreciation.
CRC A&N Islands urges the community to join us in this critical initiative. By donating blood, you can offer hope and a brighter future to those living with sickle cell anemia.
