Port Blair, May 12: A woman residing in Port Blair was invited to Delhi by individuals she befriended on social media, only to meet a tragic end as she was murdered at Palwal, Haryana. The accused couple reportedly disposed of the woman’s body in a ravine near Palwal.
As per details from media reports from National Newspapers and police sources, the victim’s seven-year-old daughter was left with her mother-in-law by the accused couple, who then fled. Following a complaint from the victim’s brother in Port Blair, authorities launched an investigation, revealing the horrifying details of the crime.
The Port Blair police, in collaboration with Delhi authorities, conducted an intensive investigation, leading to the discovery of the victim’s daughter after nearly a month. The child revealed the grim truth about her mother’s murder to the police.
Upon receiving a complaint from the investigating officer of the Port Blair police, a case has been registered against the accused couple under various sections, including murder. However, the suspects remain at large.
As per reports, a complaint was filed by the victim’s brother, alleging that his sister, Neha Devi, along with her seven-year-old daughter, had gone to Delhi to meet Rahul Gupta on March 21. After losing contact with Neha on March 25, the family grew concerned.
Investigations revealed that Neha and her daughter were taken to Palwal, where Neha was fatally injured during an altercation between Rahul Gupta, his wife Kirti, and Neha. Subsequently, Rahul and Kirti disposed of Neha’s body in a ravine and absconded.
According to local police sources, efforts to locate the accused are ongoing, with police actively pursuing leads to apprehend them. It was discovered that Neha had befriended Rahul Gupta on Facebook about a year ago, leading to frequent phone conversations and eventually a visit to Port Blair by Rahul. As per sources the minor girl has now been safely brought back to Port Blair by Andaman and Nicobar Police. Further details are awaited.
