Port Blair, Mar 26: The much awaited awareness series on Dugong and Nature Conservation commenced today at Bageecha, Port Blair. The series is being organised by the Wildlife Institute of India in association with Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi and 4 Seasons.
The series commenced with an awareness session packed with fun and knowledge for the residents of Love Children’s Home, Manglutan. During the awareness session, videos on Dugong, Games and Interactive Session was organised by Ms. Swapnali Gole, Researcher, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. The children learnt about their State Animal and the need to protect them. They also wowed to spread the word across on the need to protect the endangered species Dugong.
Earlier, Mr. Denis Giles from Bageecha explained about the need to adopt plants before going in for tree plantation drives. He also explained the children about the rich biodiversity of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Mandeep Grewal,Founder & President, PBGKR interacted with the kids and thanked WWI for conducting such meaningful camps for the kids.
The programme concluded with a lunch supported by 4 Seasons and distribution of certificates of participation to the children.
