Port Blair, Mar 17: The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair, orchestrated a vibrant and engaging Neighborhood Youth Parliament at the Auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair. Over 200 enthusiastic youth from diverse backgrounds participated in this impactful program, demonstrating their commitment to active citizenship and community engagement.
The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Arjun Sharma IAS, Deputy Commissioner (SA), who served as the chief guest. Addressing the youth, Mr. Arjun Sharma emphasized the transformative potential of such initiatives, portraying them not merely as events but as catalysts for meaningful change. He urged the youth to actively engage in shaping the future of their communities, harnessing their energy, creativity, and passion for a brighter and more inclusive tomorrow.
Mr. Naresh Chandar Lal, Padmashree Awardee, honored the occasion as the Guest of Honor. He underscored the significance of the National Youth Parliament as a crucial platform for young voices to express their opinions and concerns on issues directly affecting their lives. Through mock parliamentary sessions, he emphasized, youth not only gain insight into democratic processes but also cultivate vital leadership and communication skills, essential for contributing positively to society.
Mrs. Pramila Kumari, Ex Zila Parishad Member and Ex-Chairperson, Zila Parishad, addressed the youth, highlighting the importance of instilling a sense of responsibility and civic duty among them. She emphasized the pivotal role of dialogue between young leaders and various stakeholders in bridging the gap between aspirations and actions towards building a prosperous and harmonious society. Additionally, Mrs. Sabnam Singh, Social Worker, shared insights on Vikshit Bharat, focusing on the nation’s progress and the vital role of youth in contributing to its development. Additionally, Dr. Sunita Patil, Lecturer, provided valuable coordination for the program, ensuring logistic support and contributing to the grand success of the event.
Mr. Gorakhnath Patil, President of Maharashtra Mandal, Port Blair, graced the occasion as a special guest, adding further significance to the event.
Mr. Sukh Ranjan Biswas, Deputy Director (OSD), NYKS, provided an overview of the program’s aims and objectives, which included sessions covering diverse topics such as MYBHARAT Portal Registration & Briefing, New India, New Initiatives, Narishakti-Impact of Women’s Reservation and Empowerment, Panch Pran-Focusing on the Goal of Developing India, and Mann ki Baat and Empowering Grassroot Stories.
The event also featured a Mock Parliament session, offering firsthand exposure to parliamentary procedures, covered by all resource persons who were present.

Additionally, a Quiz Competition was held, covered by the Programme Coordinator, NTB Elimination Programme.
In an earlier session, MYBHARAT Portal Live Registration was conducted by Mr. Gopal Ch Biswas, NYK Port Blair, who also expertly coordinated the program and extended a vote of thanks to all participants and organizers.
