Port Blair, Jan 28: The historic 75th Republic Day celebration in Andaman and Nicobar witnessed a momentous occasion as 720 Anganwadi centers unfurled the National flag for the first time. This significant event, orchestrated by the Directorate of Social Welfare, showcased a commitment to inclusivity by honoring specially-abled individuals, senior citizens, and devoted Anganwadi workers. The tricolor was unfurled by these esteemed members, symbolizing a heartfelt tribute to their invaluable contributions.
Adding a distinctive touch to the festivities, the event acknowledged children who exhibited remarkable nutritional improvement. Certificates of appreciation were bestowed upon these young achievers, intending to inspire others and fuel a collective dedication to child nutrition. The initiative aimed at fostering inclusive development, urging families to actively invest in the well-being of their children.
At the Directorate building, Shri. L Kumar, Secretary (Social Welfare), took center stage as he unfurled the National Flag, encapsulating the spirit of the occasion.
Reflecting on the significance of such practices, R Sadasivan Pillai, a senior citizen at an Anganwadi center, emphasized the role of these initiatives in promoting inclusivity and positivity within society. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), led the flag unfurling at the Women and Child Helpline and the Union Territory Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Extending heartfelt wishes to all staff and Anganwadi workers, He also highlighted their pivotal role in serving society. He also commended the timely pension disbursement, attributing this significant achievement to the unwavering dedication of the officers at the Directorate.
