Port Blair, Jan 16: The Andaman & Nicobar Police is set to celebrate its 72nd Raising Day, marking a significant milestone in its distinguished history. The Raising Day commemorates the momentous occasion when Mr. Naushirwan Feroz Sauntook, an esteemed IPS Officer, assumed the charge of Superintendent of Police for the A&N Islands on 16th January 1953. Ever since the 16th of January has been observed as the “Police Raising Day” of Andaman & Nicobar Police.
To honor this historic event, the A&N Police has planned a week-long series of activities and programs, showcasing the dedication and commitment of the police force to the community it serves. The celebration aims to strengthen the bond between the police and the citizens while fostering a sense of unity and pride.
Parade and March Past: A spectacular parade and march past will take place on 16th January, 2024 at Police Lines Parade Gound, featuring the immaculately trained personnel of the A&N Police. The display of precision and discipline will be a testament to the professionalism of the force.
Community Engagement Programs: Throughout the week, the A&N Police will engage with the community through various outreach programs, including interactive sessions, awareness campaigns, community policing initiatives, Children Police Dialogue and Legal Awareness Programs.
Sports and Cultural Events: In the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork, sports competitions will be organized, fostering a sense of healthy competition and fitness among the police personnel. Cultural events, led by Police Band and Police Entertainment Team, will also take place showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the A&N Islands.
“Badakhana”: The week long celebrations will culminate with a Badakhana in which police personnel of all ranks will take part.
