Port Blair, Nov 14: In response to a recent crocodile sighting in the Stewartgunj area of South Andaman area, forest officials have taken swift action to ensure the safety of residents and passersby. The incident of crocodile sightings on the road was reported on 12 November night at Bangla Pahard area of Stewartgunj village.
The approximately 2-meter-long crocodile was seen crossing the road near Bangla Pahard area of Stewartgunj village. The incident was captured on video and in photos, which were subsequently shared on social media, causing the news to go viral. This raised concerns about the safety of individuals who traverse the area on foot or by two-wheelers, particularly students from MES schools who frequent the vicinity.
Upon receiving reports of the crocodile sighting, the matter was swiftly brought to the attention of the forest department. Forest officials promptly responded to the situation and installed a cage.
