Port Blair, Jan 27: Recently, the District Magistrate had urged all shopkeepers and hawkers not to display new or old products on roadside on Republic Day for the one-day RD market. The District Magistrate had noted that the situation from the point of law and order and public safety is very dangerous as any sort of rumour, quarrel, mischief or even an animal could cause a stampede, resulting in drastic consequences.
To deal with this situation the District Magistrate had ordered that sale of goods by hawkers will be allowed only at ITF ground on Republic Day.
But the order, as everybody knows was openly violated by hawkers on Republic Day. Though most of the hawkers had shifted to ITF ground, dozens and dozens of other hawkers preferred to stay back in Aberdeen Bazaar and block roads.
Andaman Sheekha has pictures to prove that how openly the orders of District Magistrate were violated by the hawkers, putting life of common man at great risk.
