Port Blair, Oct 19: A meeting of the PRI members including Mr. Boominathan, Up-Adhyaksh, Pramukhs of Panchayti Samitis and Gram Panchayat Pradhans and Members of Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayats of South Andaman was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh Adhyaksh, ZP, SA in the Conference Hall of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman today. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS Secretary (RD, PRI & ULBs) and Director (RD&PRI&ULBs) A & N Administration. In the meeting various issues concerning the strengthening and development of PRIs within the framework of the A&N (Panchayat) Regulation 1994 enabling it to act as institutions of Self Governance were discussed in detail. The Secretary, RD, PRI & ULBs assured that some of the issues are already under active consideration of the Administration. Remaining issues shall be discussed at length in a meeting to be held shortly on the subject.
