Port Blair, Oct 19: As per the endorsement from A & N Administration, it was directed to organize a special campaign under swatchata mission. In line with this, the first year students of DBRAIT have decided to carry out the cleanliness drive at the beach of Chota Balu, at Chidyatapu, South Andaman. The purposes of this campaign are acting as the real ambassadors of cleanliness and motivate others to keep their homes, schools/colleges, and surroundings clean. This also helps new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with community & develop team spirit, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self exploration. The other various activities carried out at site was creative art through sand casting, beach volleyball and also the demonstration and participation in disaster preparedness to better respond and cope with the immediate aftermath of a disaster, whether it be human-induced or caused by natural hazards. The major learning of this mission was that the students are able to realize the need of universal sanitation around them by cleanliness drive and reduce fear, anxiety, and losses that accompany disasters by developing environmental connect.
