Port Blair, July 12: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee stages State Level “Maun Satyagraha” against Dismissal of Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi’s appeal seeking stay on his conviction by the Gujarat High Court
Along with the nationwide protest, under the strong support of ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker, The City Congress President Mr. Mohd Zubair organized a State Level *”Maun Satyagraha”*programme on 12th July, 2023 to protest against the dismissal of Congress Leader Mr. Rahul Gandhi’s appeal to put a stay on his conviction by Gujarat High Court.
In a powerful display of solidarity and peaceful resistance, The Programme started with a foot march from Congress Office and moved towards Gandhi Statue, Port Blair where the Congress leaders were seen covering their mouth with Black clothes as a mark of protest. Later, they proceeded to Tiranga Park where a huge gathering of Congress Leaders comprising the Mahila Congress Committee, Pradesh youth Congress, City Congress Committee ,Congress Seva Dal and all other Frontal Organizations, PBMC Councilors, Zilla Parishad Members, PRI Members , Pramukh’s and General Public were present.
The Maun Satyagraha highlighted the importance of justice, fairness, and the preservation of democratic principles which the Central Government has failed to deliver.
The dismissal of Rahul Gandhi’s appeal in Court has raised concerns about the fairness and impartiality of the judicial process. The Maun Satyagraha seeks to draw attention to these concerns and advocate for a fair and legal democratic system in our Nation.
During the Maun Satyagraha programme, the Congress leaders wear black armbands, and engage in silent contemplation. They gathered to express their disappointment at the dismissal of Rahul Gandhi’s appeal and their determination to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and the protection of democratic values.
