Port Blair, June 28: On observance of HELEN KELLER’S DAY 2023, on 27th June 2023, The Composite Regional Centre A&N Islands organized “Eye Exercise Session cum Co-curricular activities” for inmates in Abbhyuday Children Home, Directorate of Social Welfare, Ferrargunj on 28th June 2023.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the life and achievements of Helen Keller, a woman who overcame blindness and deafness to the community. The objectives of the programme are to encourage & empower the persons with disability, to improve eye health and to ensure their whole participation through play activities.
Mrs. Sumithamol, Resident Nodal Officer, welcomed the gathering followed by a meditation session. Mr. Mathivanan, Orientation Mobility Instructor cum Special Educator, Mrs. Kokila, Vocational Trainer cum Special Educator and Mrs. Saranyah, Rehabilitation Officer, CRC A&N-Islands conducted various arts & crafts, indoor games and cultural activities along with an adaptive eye exercise session for the inmates of the children home. They entertained the people in the Old age home also. The inmates enjoyed the presence of CwSN from CRC.
CRC altogether 80 people participated. Successfully, the event achieved the objective to ensure the whole participation of the Divyangjan through play activities which is a part of empowering them in the society.
